Low Cost Lawyers

After conducting hours of research, I’ve decided to become a member as well as endorse Pre-Paid Legal Services for three reasons:

1.  Foreclosure laws (especially concerning the right to deficiency judgements, recourse loans, etc.) vary from state to state and can be become very complicated based on a borrower’s individual circumstances.

2.  Such complex issues often require the services of an attorney, such as auditing mortgage documents and/or discussing foreclosure law as it relates to the individuals particular scenario.  

3.  As important as it is to hire an attorney, the costs can be extremely high.  A 4 hour session with an attorney at $300 / hour is something most homeowners, especially when in preforeclosure, cannot afford.

4.  Pre-Paid Legal Services provides these same services, including document review, unlimited phone consultation and limited attorney representation (including phone calls and letters) for $16 a month

Pre-Paid Legal Services is a public company (NYSE: PPD) dedicated to providing legal counsel for low cost.  As a member, I am a client of Lombino Martino in Washington and so far, am very satisfied with the level of legal counsel, especially regarding complex issues regarding foreclosure law.

However, like any other company, Pre-Paid Legal Services may be excellent for some while not ideal for others.
